Has anybody but ME read the book Headcrash, by Bruce Bethke?
Some of the humor in the book is very geeky (the more VMS you know, and the more you've sat behind a vt220, the more you'll get it)... but even without getting all the injokes, it's a brilliant novel. Its similar in ways to Stephensons Snowcrash, but funnier... set in the future corporate-gone-wrong world, with bad-arse AI and a bit of Brave New World chucked in for good measure.
I wish I could find my copy... but its well worth a read if you can get your hands on it. Bethke was planning to write a sequel, but the last I talked to him (after reading a leaked beginning draft) he just wasn't happy with how it was turning out. Mores the pity.
